You Say You Want A Revolution

Mmm, hooked up my record player to the huge ass speakers again and dusted off my vinyls :) Sooo pleased with life. Also have been burning disgusting amounts of incense while listening to said vinyls, it's just better that way. Healthier for your head :)

Pink scoop-neck sweater (San Fransisco), mauve tulip miniskirt (Urban Outfitters), black leggings ($18 Smart Set), black leather flat boots ($12 Value Village), mustard yellow bag (Winners), black and purple long necklace (Xmas present), Guess watch, pink empire crystal ring with swarovski crystal band (birthday present from Nanny).

Tapestry

I love this dress! It's Gabby's, from our clothing exchange, and it's a cream coloured knit babydoll type sweater dress, KP just hemmed it with iron-on lazy people's hemming solution, and now it's more tunic-y, since I'll only wear it with leggings. I'm wearing it with jeggings from Smart Set and my black leather boots ($12 Value Village). The necklace is something my parents brought back for me from Fiji, it's wood and stone, and my bracelet is a clear lucite bangle with a yellow and orange feathery thing trapped inside it (Le Chateau). The mustard yellow and brass purse is from Winners.
I also wore this cream knit dress with greyish brown wool tights from Walmart, the same black leather boots, a wooden bangle and KP's black chunky stone necklace and her brown leather Carriage watch.

Swiss Miss

Thanksgiving yesterday was awesome, boyfriend came, and we boycotted family since apparently all we throw are shallow family gatherings, and hosted turkey dinner for the family we made by choice :) It was awesome, we had amazing appetizers and hung out in the backyard, drinking and eating by the fire in the gazebo, then we moved inside for more drinking and our turkey feast. The finished the evening with more drinking and eating dessert, and playing Cranium and Taboo. I really did have fun and am thankful for all the amazing people in my life, and the laughter that we share.
This outfit is my black leather boots ($12 Value Village), jeggings ($18 Smart Set), Grey cowl neck sweater tunic (Winners) and my white Guess watch ($$$ :) ).

You are a champion in their eyes

Last night the boyfriend and I went shopping after work and hung out in the pet store. It makes me so depressed because the animals are mistreated in there, and I also want to take them all home with me so they can run wild and free in the animal kingdom that my house would become. Ah wishful thinking. I made boy dinner last night, and I must say I'm very pleased with my culinary talent. I didn't use a recipe at all, just asked my mom for rough instructions and ingredients for Chicken Divan:
2 chicken breasts
broccoli florets
cream of chicken soup
mayonaise
curry
shredded cheese.
Cut the chicken into big hunks, and cook halway in a frying pan, steam broccoli. Mix the soup, mayo, and curry together. Put the chicken in a casserole dish, put the broccoli on top, dump the mixture over everything then top with shredded cheese and pop it in the oven for 20 minutes at 350. Yum :) I also served with bean salad.

This outfit is pretty summery but I saw the dress and HAD to have it, it reminds me of the dress that Carrie wears in SATC when she goes to Paris with the Russian, and goes to his art show instead of her party ... but in a less fancy/not haute couture way.
Turquoise Club Monaco dress ($10 Value Village), woven leather belt (Value Village), woven leather flats ($7 Value Village), broken Carriage watch (stolen from KP's dresser).

dino love

So thankful for my friends today (as I am every day). But it really is true, you never know what you've got until it's gone, or at least until you're in fear of it.
One of my besties was hit by a car yesterday and we were all really freaked out. She was fine and the driver was charged but she's got a broken hand and a whole lot of bumps and bruises. She's a little trooper though, and didn't cry or feel sorry for herself, although idk how she's doing it because I'd be sooooo upset!
Anyways, we all love her and her roommates are the perfect people to be sick/injured with because they are all so compassionate and understanding (and medical messes themselves :P).
So yes, today I'm extra grateful for all my friends and how not only do I love them more than life itself, but we all, as a group love each other, and that's how we get through these fucked up situations.

Anti-choice = anti-woman

This morning, Ruth Lobo (a girl who I actually met a couple times last year) decided to set up her disgusting display of bullshit in Carleton U's quad (against the uni's permission). Thank god she and her anti-choice group were arrested and taken away.
As a feminist, a woman, a sexual being, and most of all as a HUMAN, I am so offended by her anti-woman campaign.
Abortion is controversial, no woman WANTS to have an abortion, but for some women it is the only viable option, and for those women who need to have abortions, they have the right to safe, healthy, non-judgemental treatment.

Now, I've never heard of any pro-choicers going crazy and hurting anyone, but I sure as hell have heard about pro-"lifers" (aka anti-choicers) who have murdered doctors who perform abortions, and other such acts.

AN ENORMOUS FUCK YOU TO ALL YOU IGNORANT ANTI-CHOICERS. All I can hope is that someday you'll enlighten yourselves as to the basic human right of freedom of choice.

Spread the love, the freedom and the choice :) Copulate, don't populate <3

They Just Seem a Little Weird

It's been a stressful week and a half, I've been overloaded with school work, reading, assignments, and missing classes .. oh and also getting sick. But the boyfriend came over and brought me roses, which was very sweet of him, and I've been getting more on top of things. Even though I've only gone to one class this week. Oops! Anyways, KP took me out for some retail therapy (never fails me) and I got some cute stuff.

Purple and gold studded dress (Value Village), black leggings which are super thick and not crazy tight .. so they look kind of silly but are very warm and look better with tunics than dresses ($20 Smart Set), Black studded motorcycle booties ($20 Ardene - thanks Mom).
And the coolest ring ever, sparkly ass Crocodile ring ($10 Smart Set).

Back to Work

This week I finally go back to work at the uni. I'm actually so excited, firstly because my job is really fun, my boss is very laid back and everyone I work with is hilarious and awesome, but mostly because I HAVE NO MONEY ... and an overdue credit card bill, and a $3000 flight to Australia to pay off. Ouch.
Blue and white floral button -down dress (Clothing Exchange), leather braided belt (Value Village), grey cropped sweater (Value Village), beige tweed flats (Aldo).

Don't Clam Jam Your Bitches

Another school outfit, it sucks sitting in a lecture for 6 hours a day, but I still made somewhat of an effort.
Grey slouchy booties ($60 Aldo), Paris Blues skinny jeans (Value Village), black and white striped off-the-shoulder t-shirt (Smart Set), studded wide belt (Smart Set). Dangly silver earrings.
Braids are back. But mostly because I'm too lazy to blow-dry.

Witch Burning

In my midwifery class (which is the coolest class ever, with the coolest prof teaching it) we watched a documentary about the witch hunt and burnings in the 18th century. This event was named the women's holocaust, as over 9 million women were tortured and burned at the stake for being "witches". These women were shamans, natural healers, midwives, widows, young girls, and even women who were seen "gathering with other women" or speaking to other women. Even an accusation would mean that a woman would be taken into jail, tortured three times(their torture was a public spectacle that the whole village could take part in) and then, if she didn't die of the agony inflicted upon her during torture, she'd be burnt at the stake, also a public spectacle. I could go on but this shit makes me sick to my stomach, and moreover, there is not a single monument dedicated to the carnage of these innocent women.

Furthermore, in the torture of women around the world, two days ago, a 16 year old girl coming home from a rave in BC was drugged, and gang raped by a group of young men, videos were taken and are now posted on the internet. I'm in mourning for this poor girl, and angry beyond belief at the world that this shit even happens. Society for the most part makes me sick and I'm disgusted to even be a part of it.

Sending hope and love to this poor girl, and all women.

Venus Flytrap

I'm eating a chocolate vagina right now. Yeah, I said it. It's wonderful. Went to Mtl with the bitties last week, it was sort of a bust, didn't buy much, and we all got a bit riled up at eachother (or more like everyone got riled up and took it out on me) bleh. It was fun for the most part though.
Jacob jeans ($7 VV), black Garage tank top, black and white patterened sheer dress (Gabby's), studded bracelet, Seiko watch, grey slouchy booties ($60 Aldo).

Meeting Peyton

So I met my beautiful second-cousin yesterday for the first time. Her name is Peyton and she's so gorgeous. I have baby fever, almost cried when she went to bed, I just wanted to take her home with me she isliterally THAT cute.

Other (not nearly as) exciting news is I learned how to use a sewing machine! And I sewed this dress, it was a floor length one from Value Village ($8) so I chopped it off and hemmed it. The hem is magnificently uneven but that's okay. I'm wearing it with KP's leather belt and my mauve platform wedges ($20 Taget)

Sunday Funday

Sunday's are so weird, they are the Gatsby of all weekdays, they have everything and nothing at the same time (my man said the same thing about Gatsby). They are perfect because they are a weekday, no one works, they call for ceasar's, big family dinners and early relaxing evenings, but they also suck man dick because you know in less than 24 hours you'll be stuck at your shitty job again (and someone once said "If you love your job you've never worked a day in your life"), you get bored because everything is closed, and then you drink too much, have no plans, take your pants off and lie in bed putting on red lipstick and taking pictures of yourself because you're a drunk narcissist.
I want to shave some of my hair off ...

Feathers and Wood

Yesterday KP and I went to a furniture store then wreaked havoc in Homesense (but we had to go to the far away Homesense lest we become too enticed by the close one that is in conjunction with Winners ... oh fairly priced designer handbags are my true love). Anyways, it was hilarious, we both just went nuts picking tons of crap to decorate the new credenza thingy from my Grandma's house that now lives in our family room. We bought a ton of stuff but what we kept was a stunning sparkly feather and twig display in a vase (that I'll take credit for), an amazing copper-ish glass lamp with a linen lampshade (again I'll take the credit for that one) and a huuuuuge black and greenish-grey plate (KP won for that one). (Final score, BK: 2, KP:1).
Back to the outfit, I wore this on my date with Becky and Sylvia to the museum of Nature.
Black and white patterened sleeveless top (KP's closet), mauve tulip skirt ($10 Urban Outfitters), black American Eagle flats vs. mauve platform sandals ($20 Target), and KP's camel wide leather belt vs. braided leather men's belt.

Boxcar Racer

Boxcar racer is such an awesome band, (Letters to God ... ill fuckin song) I used to be so into them, and I probably haven't listened to them in a year, but they just came on my shuffle; thanks iPod!!
Beige linen button-down romper ($8 Value Village), Gabby's vintage belt, black canvas and cork wedges (but would also be cute with my canvas wedges no .. too much canvas?), wooden earrings (Ardene).

Feeling Yourself Disintegrate

So I just joined Gilt Groupe .. it's a website that offers designer fashions for mads cheap, and you can find really bomb ass vintage and rare stuff. You have to be "invited" to join though haha, it's such a pretentious crock of shit, but anyways I've got my "membership" now. And they have such amazing clothing, you can honestly find anything, the craziest things! This is going to be so very dangerous for my unemployed wallet.
Black Joe Fresh dress (with pockets .. yes pockets so I can keep my keys, cellphone and tissues in there, and also tampons cuz .. well that's the life of a a girl) $10 Value Village, Gabby's vintage belt, black and cork platform wedges (Payless), leather bag (Winners), wooden earrings ($5 Claires), white plastic flower ring (42 Smart Set).

Lover's Spit

Some days are good, some days are bad, You just have to choose which ones you'll hold on to and which ones you are willing to let go of.
Bare feet (cuz it's summer and I was just running around the house), brown Joe Fresh skirt (which I'm wearing as a tube top dress), brown studded belt from KP ($2 Ardene), orange and brown bracelets ($10 from some store in NYC).

Tears For Fears

Still on an 80's music kick. Last weekend Boy and I had my friend Gabby and her boyfriend Kris over for a pre-drink before we went to a pool hall for Dave's birthday. It was so much fun and it turns out our boys are madly in bro-love for eachother, it's cute they got along so well.
More news, just found out that my office is closing until the middle or end of September .. making me unemployed for more than me and my bank account are comfortable with. Eff, it sucks especially because I'll really have to crack down and make sure I don't dip into my savings account, but the girls and I were planning our annual, summer Montreal shopping trip for right before school. I may not be able to go, which will suck, because it's like a family vacation <3.
Shoes: Beige platform sandals ($20 Target), Paris Blues skinny jeans ($8 Value Village), green tank top (Dynamite), camel crochet sweater ($6 Value Village), Gabby's fabulous vintage belt (that she'll have to pry out of my cold dead hands to get back :P)
